It’s no surprise that the 2024 Homecoming season was beyond successful here at Plainfield East; students eagerly repped their Bengal pride by participating in this year’s spirit week.
Sunday prepared the building for a class clash with Deck the Halls. Entering the freshman hallway took us on a trip to outer space, while the sophomores visited December in a winter wonderland theme. The 400s was the junior jungle, and the seniors celebrated October with a spooky pumpkin patch.
The school week began with a cozy emergence from the weekend with Pajama Day. Students bundled up in robes, pajama pants, and slippers – perfect for a fall day.
In true PEHS fashion, Tuesday was Twin Day. It seemed our eyes were playing tricks on us as students and teachers dressed identically to their best friends.
On Wednesday, East celebrated the Powderpuff game with Jersey Day. Participating students wore their t-shirts to prepare for the game, while others wore jerseys to represent their favorite teams. Later in the evening, seniors seized the win in a football game against the juniors with a score 25-0. The boys cheer performance was clean and entertaining as usual – an exciting night at PEHS.
A unique theme took place on Thursday: Dress As Your Type. Students and teachers dressed as their personas or took it a step further and repped the personalities of their ideal love interests. The ultimate high school spirit day.
Adhering to tradition, Friday was Class Color day, the first with East’s new color assignments. Freshman wore black, sophomores sported white, juniors dressed in green, and seniors held orange. The day’s pep assembly showed a sea of colors, where seniors emerged victorious and took home the class cup.
PEHS is the place to be for all things orange and green. Students and staff brought out their loudest roars for the 2024 homecoming season; we can’t wait for next year.
