One Plainfield East student, Lillian Neubauer, is a sophomore who has played tennis for nearly two years with the school. Her teammates describe her as ambitious and a hard worker.
Some of her favorite off-court activities are reading, watching F1, and spending time with family and friends. In tennis, some of her biggest competitors are closer than you think.
“You’re always competing against your teammates on who gets the better spot, like on who gets 4th doubles instead of 1st singles, but other schools are [Plainfield] North.” Lillian said.
Some ways she works on keeping up with the sport are hitting with her dad and having a workout schedule that helps with tennis. She said, “I do control drills at home in the winter that help. I try to book at 5 Star. Sometimes if my friends are free that day, I also help out with the boys’ season to help me get back into the swing of things before summer.”
Some of Lillian’s goals and aspirations for the future are “for short-term goals I’d like to make it past conference and get into sectionals. And my long-term goal is to go D-2 for tennis.”
Some challenges she has faced are playing against people who have already been on varsity, and what spot she would get. Another one is that she suffered a wrist injury that took her out of a match.
