The Seattle Seahawks secured the title of NFC Champion with their defeat at home against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Jan. 25.
The Seahawks started the game with an explosive first quarter to pick up an early lead against the Rams. The Rams started with the opening possession, and the Seahawks were able to take over with their first drive, resulting in a touchdown scored by Kenneth Walker. However, the Rams kept up the pressure by following with a field goal.
The second quarter started off with a field goal by the Rams, as well as a touchdown scored by Kyren Williams. In a clinched comeback, the Seahawks scored a touchdown, bringing the score to 13-17.
The Seahawks and the Rams traded points back and forth for an exciting third quarter, eventually bringing the score to 27-31.
An uneventful fourth quarter wrapped up the game.
“I’m never really short on words. I am now. This is tough. But this is sports, and you’ve got to be able to go with it,” said Sean McVay, head coach of the Rams.
With this victory, the Seahawks advance to the Super Bowl, facing off against the New England Patriots, which will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, Feb. 8.
