Whether through classes, extracurriculars, or watching plays and musicals, senior Kara Rivera has become known to many. While the end of her time in high school draws near she looks to continue her educational career in college.
Rivera has gotten to know many people while being a part of many of the school’s communities.
“I was a part of AAA [Asian American Association], Plainfield East Madrigals or Chamber, and then drama club, musical, and badminton for one year,” said Rivera.
After all these clubs and the many classes she’s taken Rivera has experienced she has some advice to share with the future seniors.
“Don’t be daunted by the college process, but also don’t put off everything… Enjoy the year, try to appreciate all the people around you. If you guys have beef or there’s something going on, if there’s drama, this is the last time you guys are going to see each other, so try to make the most of it,” said Rivera.
Rivera has found her favorite part of high school being meeting new people and being able to make connections with all of them and creating the memories she’s had. With her four years being done she’s thought about the new memories and experiences she will have.
“I look forward to having freedom and becoming a new person, becoming more independent in my college life,” said Rivera.
While having been a part of Plainfield East’s plays and musicals throughout the years she has also been a part of Paramount’s production of “The Sound of Music,” Natural Talent Production’s “Anastasia,” and on episode five season ten of “Chicago Med.” Rivera plans continuing her work while pursuing this field in college.
“I plan to go to DePaul University for acting,” said Rivera.
Before leaving East to begin her new life she has some words to give prior to her next role taking the stage at DePaul.
“Lead with love,” said Rivera. “That’s been my quote all year, lead with love.”
