Nathan Meyer, a well-accomplished high school senior, has been involved in band, along with Track and Field, for four years. Aside from his extracurricular activities, Meyer is viewed by his peers as a friend and a role model for underclassmen. With Meyer’s departure, East will not only be losing an A-plus contributor to the community; they’ll be losing an A-plus person.
Meyer has truly embraced his time here at East, with his array of awards reflecting his hard work. As the marching band’s section leader for multiple years, a member of the school’s select jazz band, and the team captain for track and field, Meyer’s involvement in the school’s community is a testament to his diligence as a Bengal. He appreciates all the great memories and the many contributions he has made at East.
“Having so many people who are very supportive and friendly really helped make East memorable for me,” said Meyer.
Meyer followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Avery, who also competed in track and field along with band. Meyer will be attending Illinois State University in the fall, where his brother is currently attending.
To put it simply, Meyer is a great individual wherever and whenever. A natural leader in his clubs, but also outside of those extracurriculars, Meyer is always sharing advice with peers and lending a helping hand wherever he can.
“There is nothing to be scared of,” Meyer said. “As long as you are confident and kind to others, you’ll have a great time in high school.”
This mindset has allowed Meyer to achieve success in his high school career and helped shape him into the well-rounded individual he is today. Kind, respectful, funny, humble. Meyer is truly a role model in and out of the classroom.
All in all, Meyer will be greatly missed at East, not just by his teachers, coaches, or friends, but by the larger community.
“Knowing I won’t be able to see all of these great people every day will make me miss East for sure,” said Meyer.
And he will be missed by all those great people too.
